- Hi there Folks. First off, let's get this out of the way:
-
- Machine: Amiga 3000, 25MHz, 1960 monitor, WB/KS 3.1, 2 meg Chip, 16 meg
- FAST (SC), EGS 28/24 Spectrum w/2meg, V-Lab Y/C, 2 internal
- hard-drives (Maxtor 245 and Quantum 850), 4 floppies - one of
- 'em HD, ZIP drive, CD-ROM, SupraFax V.32bis modem, 2 printers,
- and a par-tridge-in-a-pear-tree! ;-)
-
- WWW software: PPP v1.45 (reg.), AmiTCP v4.2 (reg.), AMosaic v2.0 (Pre-
- release 3). (And MUI v3.3 (unreg.) to facilitate AMosaic.)
-
-
- Well, I've finally hauled ass and set up for a WWW connection using PPP,
- AmiTCP, and AMosaic. I pretty much set things up as per the docs and I'm
- getting reasonable results when accessing my ISP in town. Trouble is,
- when browsing a WWW page, if I click on a delayed-image icon, it causes
- the A3000 to crash - big time! (I have "DelayImageLoads True" set in
- AMosaic's prefs file so as to help control traffic costs.)
-
- Say, for instance, I access the AMosaic Home Page and click for the
- little logo in the top left hand of the page - y'know it? Well, the
- graphic data starts coming across the net but when it hits about 3000
- bytes worth, a message appears in AMosaic's bottom gadget, saying:
- "Insufficient temporary workspace: Could not transfer data." Then,
- CRASH!!! Ditto for any other page in the world.
-
- Now, I'm aware of the 'ImageCacheSize' line in the ENV:Mosaic/Prefs file
- - but I've got that set to a reasonable value: 500KB. (Even setting it
- to a higher amount like 1000KB (1 meg) doesn't make any difference to
- the crash problem.) Also, there's a full range of DataTypes - Gif, JPEG,
- ILBM, PCX, etc. present on the machine - and having AMosaic on a WB
- screen or its own custom screen, ala MUI prefs, maketh no diff either.
-
- So... anyone have a clue here? Anyone else experienced this glitch - and
- found the solution? Any help appreciated! ;-)
-
-
- Cheers, Tony McKee
